Dr. LaTonya Baker

Learn More

Hello there! I’m a passionate motivational speaker and the owner/founder and senior administrator of Generation of Excellence – Trendsetters, Milwaukee’s leading prenatal health care organization. I’m blessed to give words of encouragement while helping underserved women navigate their pregnancies. The safety and security of mothers and their children are the forefront of my ongoing goals.

In securing the safety and wellbeing of families, I’m often afforded the opportunity to speak life into small and large groups of children and adults. Changing lives by uplifting the community through motivational speaking and hands-on community engagement is a huge part of my daily walk. Recently, I reached beyond hands-on engagement by pouring my heart and soul into my book, “When She Speaks”. Being an author has allowed me to empower and encourage women and children everywhere through text.

As CEO of my women’s fashion line, Tyresia’s Boutique Too, I have created iconic products with an esthetique impression of jackets, hats, handbags, and gowns. Through fashion, I’m able to stretch my own imagination, inspire young women, and create opportunities in fashion design and modeling.

Over the years, I have achieved much success by turning my pain into my passion. My goal is to use the power of speech to encourage women and children to do the same.

My Why

I’ve decided to participate in this year’s Stepping with the Stars in honor of my mother Mary Henry who was diagnosed with cancer in January 2022. Although she is no longer with us on this side she was a pure example of a fighter, embodying faith, and caring for others despite what she mentally and physically had to endure. For that, I’m forever grateful to be her daughter and for the borrowed time we had on this earth together. Prior to her diagnosis, Mom lived a very full life and she taught me a little step or two as she loved to dance! More importantly, Mom was a friend and advocate of education. She found joy in mentoring students and advocating for their academic success, and equity. She taught me about giving back to others and to keep moving even when life may not always be fair. So Mom while I’m a little nervous thank you for giving me courage, and style. Cancer isn’t just a disease it’s an unfortunate and unfair test of our strength and faith, yet God provides us with the understanding that He is walking with us every step of the way. There are so many individuals and families who are trying to fight through and or cope with their loss. Our help to get us a step closer to a cure through various resources in the interim is so important. I want us all to lead healthy, fulfilling, and joyful lives. Mom, this one is for you and every fighter and their family members.

I agreed to participate first of all because I know there are a lot of people telling themselves all the things that they can’t do. So I try to accept challenges to show others to never tell yourself that you can’t do something. Secondly, A huge reason why I agreed to participate is the purpose and reason behind this event, and that’s the impact of cancer on the lives of many of us. I grew up with five men in the house, and cancer has taken 3 of them and another is currently going through treatment and fighting for his life due to cancer. So I’m all for healthy lifestyles and further research to help fight this thing, thank you for having me.
